I was using Remote Desktop Connection Manager (RDCMAN) tool from Microsoft for many years. Recently, while setting up a new PC, I discovered that this tool was discontinued and removed from Microsoft website due to information disclosure vulnerability.
While that was a sad news, it forced me to look for alternatives. Requirement were the following:
- manage remote connections for multiple logical groups, ability to configure special special properties per group
- proper window scaling in different screen resolutions (old RDCMAN had problems with this)
- ability to configure special windows shortcuts to be executed on local or remote PC
- encrypted credentials for remote connection
- free edition is a plus
After trying different solutions, the one I liked the most is Remote Desktop Manager from devolutions.net. It fulfills all my requirements, supports different remote connection types, has a nice modern design and it's free for personal & Commercial Use.
